TRAVIS Hazel, called ‘Fifty,’ who allegedly bludgeoned Leroy Barron to death on Sunday was handed over to police at the Mackenzie Police Station by his mother, Debra Gilkes, on Monday evening.

Deceased: Leroy Barron

The 31-year-old businessman of Lot 24 Silvercity Wismar was arrested but is not assisting with investigations as he said he was advised by his lawyer not to answer any questions.

An autopsy performed on the body of Barron determined that he died due to brain haemorrhaging and blunt trauma to the head.

On Sunday, Hazel allegedly dealt Barron several lashes to his body with a piece of wood, which resulted in his death. The incident occurred around the Co-op Crescent Mackenzie Market area. The two men had a verbal altercation which became physical.
