A JOINT search of the Georgetown Prison on Thursday by ranks of the Guyana Police Force and that of the Prison Service, unearthed a number of prohibited items.

Among the items seized are: 19 cellular phones; five phone chargers; one flash drive; 15 cigarette lighters; two packets of cigarette; five pairs of scissors; seven improvised weapons and 500 grams of cannabis. The operation which lasted for five hours was commanded by two senior officers and involved a total of seventy-one ranks.
