Victims robbed during traffic accident

A TEEN on Wednesday appeared before a city magistrate on a robbery charge.
The charge alleged that on July 16, 2018 in Georgetown, while being in the company of others and armed with a knife, Samuel Ford robbed Sarah Brown of one handbag valued $8,000 which had $50,000 in cash .

It was further alleged that on the same day, Ford robbed Nicholas Brown of one cellphone valued $98,000.

The 18-year-old who resides in Albouystown denied the charges in front of Magistrate Fabayo Azore.

The police prosecutor objected to bail based on the serious nature of the offence and the fact that personal violence was used.

According to the police facts, the accused and the virtual complainants were travelling in different vehicles which end up colliding with each other on Vlissingen Road. As a result, the accused and several other men exited the car and robbed the virtual complainants of the items mentioned. They assaulted Nicholas Brown about his body with a glass bottle causing him to receive injuries. An investigation was later carried out and the accused was identified in an identification parade.

Bail was granted in the sum of $100,000 .The matter was adjourned to September 26, 2018.
