..tournament launch at Tower Suites this morning  

THE third edition of the Caribbean Schoolboys and Juniors boxing championships slated for the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue, from Friday to Sunday will be launched at 10:30hrs today at the Tower Suites, Main  Street, Georgetown.

The tournament which will involve schoolboys and juniors drawn from St. Lucia, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada and host Guyana battling for honours over a three-night period, is anticipated to be action packed and the public is being encouraged to support the event which will see fans paying $500 for stands and $1000 for ringside.

The eight-man Jamaican contingent was expected to arrive in Guyana last evening, but will now arrive early this morning, while the boxers and officials from St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago and Grenada are expected to arrive later today.

Trinidad and Tobago will be represented by a 12-member team which includes eight males and four females. Four officials will accompany the team along with four parents of six of the boxers.

St. Lucia will be represented by four boxers and two officials.

Guyana has named a strong 21-member unit along with four coaches in Sebert Blake (Technical Director), Clifton Moore, James Walcott and Joseph Murray.

Action gets underway at 18:00hrs tomorrow.
