CHARLESTOWN Girls and Chase Academy boys are the respective champions of the Inaugural ExxonMobil U-14 Schools Football tournament.

Under the setting sun at the Ministry of Education Ground, Chase romped to victory via a 6-1 scoreline over North Ruimveldt.

Chase were well oiled and clinical in the final third which led to their wide margin of victory, never shying away from shots, most of which were on target in the end.

On the score sheet for the winners were Devon Padmore (2nd), Sealon Sue (6th), Jaheel Alexander (23rd), Renaldo Abrams (36th), Shaquan Liverpool (41st) and Kevin Mullin (48th) minutes.

Orland Dikie was the lone goalscorer for ‘Multi’.

The scoreline meant that chase now has $300,000 towards a project at their school while North Ruimveldt will have $200,000 towards a similar initiative.

In the third place playoff, another one sided-affair occurred as Buxton trashed St Johns College 8-0. On the scoresheets for Buxton was Tyrice Dennis (1st, 9th, 15th, 39th and 45th) with Makhaya Jervis (20th and 37th) and Antwone Layne (48th) also adding to the tally.

Vergenogen won via walk over from Tucville for fifth place.

In the distaff side, it was all Charlestown as they won over their East Ruimveldt counterparts by a 3-0 margin. Shania Easton’s double in the (8th and 40th) minutes helped the cause while Donna Lowe (25th) sealed the deal.

New Campbellville picked up third place via walk-over from South Ruimveldt.

Just like their male counterparts, the winning girls’ team picked up $300,000 towards a school project, the runners’ up got $200,000, third place $100,000 and fourth place $50,000. (sookram@guyanachronicle.com)
