Cops say man fatally stabbed drinking partner

A NORTH West District (NWD) resident was on Wednesday arraigned before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on a manslaughter charge after allegedly fatally stabbing his drinking partner with a broken glass bottle.

Junior Abrams called ‘ Black Boy”, 32, was not required to plead to the indictable charge which alleged that on July 14 at the Kumaka Water Front, NWD, he unlawfully killed Elroy Marks He was remanded to prison until August 20 when his matter will be called at the Mabaruma Magistrate’s Court.

According to reports, the incident occurred in the middle of a drinking spree on July 14. The police reported that the victim and suspect, who were known to each other, were imbibing at a shop when an argument ensued and escalated into a fight, during which the suspect allegedly broke a bottle and stabbed the victim to the neck.

The victim was rushed to the Mabaruma Regional Hospital in an unconscious state and succumbed to the injury.
