A 24-year-old man of Craig village on the East Bank of Demerara on Friday appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.
David Europe was not required to plead to the charge which alleged that on January 22 at Craig, he engaged in sexual penetration with a child under the age of 16.
He was unrepresented by a lawyer and was released on $170,000 bail. His matter has been adjourned until July 18

According to reports, Europe and the teenager lived in the same village and would communicate via Facebook and WhatsApp. On the day in question, it is alleged that the teen found the accused in her bedroom and told him to get out.
Europe then pinned her down on the bed and forced her into having sex with him.
