AN unsmiling and expressionless Leslie Castello walked out of the Georgetown High Court, on Thursday afternoon after a 12-member jury could not arrive at a verdict for two counts of rape of a child under age 16.

Castello is on bail and the case ended in a hung jury in the proportion of 8-4 on both counts before Justice Jo-Ann Barlow.

According to the indictment it is alleged that between November 1 and 30, 2012 in the county of Demerara, he engaged in sexual penetration of a girl child under the age of 16 years’ old.

The State was represented by Tiffini Lyken, Abigail Gibbs and Narissa Leander while the defence attorney is Folio Richards.
