The Mae’s incident should have been sorted out quietly

Dear Editor,
I NEVER thought the current situation which involves the student and his cultural attire of the Mae’s private school would have escalated to a protest. It’s a situation that could have been sorted out quietly between the parents and school. Nevertheless, I am sure we can soon get over this.

I read a GC report dated May 30,2018 and captioned ‘Mae’s denies putting out schoolboy over attire’ and I think that it was a fair explanation on their part. I am on no one’s side even though I am partly of Amerindian heritage.

However, I was just perusing my collection of photos from the inaugural 1981 Mass Games and stumbled on a photo of students/participants with their Amerindian costume and I thought I share as an educational tool for all. Guyana did make an effort under the government of the late President L.F.S Burnham in acknowledging the first people during this event.
