‘Groper’ changes guilty plea after hearing of 5-yr sentence

A MINIBUS conductor who is accused of groping a female Chinese national, found himself before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with sexual assault.

Roy Nedd, 39, of Norton Street is charged with touching the 21-year-old woman in a sexual way without her consent on May 12 at Regent and Camp Streets, Georgetown. The matter was held in camera.

The man had initially entered a guilty plea but quickly changed his plea when the Chief Magistrate explained to him that the charge attracted a five-year jail sentence.
He was released on $30,000 bail and the matter is adjourned until May 29.

According to reports, the victim was walking along Regent and Camp Streets when it is alleged that the defendant groped the woman and ran away.
