A fire of unknown origin destroyed a house at Crabwood Creek on the Corentyne on Monday afternoon leaving several persons homeless.

Reports are that the house was gutted within minutes while a nearby house was severely scorched.

Members of the Guyana Fire Service managed to douse the flames in a bid to protect nearby houses from the conflagration.
