Popular Linden businessman, two others hospitalised in accident

POPULAR Linden businessman Beresford Harry, 49, also known as “Bella”, owner of BeHarry Lumber Yard and General Store, is in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital Cooperation (GPHC) following an accident which occurred around 10:15 hrs on Sunday.

According to a police report, Harry was driving motor vehicle PVV 5602 owned by his wife, Simone Harry, and as he was proceeding east alongside the northern side of the Amelia’s Ward Public Road at a fast rate of speed, he lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle collided with the Digicel “Welcome to Linden” sign board, then a wooden barrier on the eastern side of Millie’s Junction of the Linden Soesdyke Highway and landed into a clump of bushes.

Public-spirited persons rescued Harry and the other occupants, including 21-year- old Shakel McAlmont of 19 Amelia’s Ward, Linden, and 28-year-old Trecia Aulder of Mocha, East Bank Demerara, and rushed them to the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC) in an unconscious state.

Harry and McAlmont were later transferred to the GPHC for further medical treatment. Harry suffered trauma to the head. He is known as a ‘good Samaritan’ who takes his corporate social responsibility seriously by giving back to the community.
The traffic department of E’ Division is investigating the accident.
