THREE armed and masked bandits attacked and killed a Dominican miner at a mining camp at Black Water Backdam, Cuyuni River, in the wee hours of Sunday morning, police have confirmed.

Dead is Pedro Pablo Rosario, 55. Reports indicate that the Dominican was relaxing in a hammock, in the watch camp about 30 feet from the dredge, when one of the suspects discharged a round hitting him.

The suspects then proceeded to the mining dredge, held other employees at gunpoint, removed two mats from the sluice box and made good their escape.
Police are investigating the matter.
