Beepats sales rep faked $2.5M robbery

A 27-year-old sales representative attached to Beepats and Sons in Georgetown is presently in police custody assisting with investigation concerning a robbery she allegedly faked. She admitted to police Friday morning after intense grilling.

Nisa Azeez admitted that she made a false report to the police. The woman who resides at Queenstown Village on the Essequibo Coast and a sales representative employed with Beepat and sons of Georgetown, had alleged a simple larceny of $2.5 Million Guyana Currency property of Beepat and sons which occurred on April 19.

Information disclosed that Azeez usually collects money from customers in Essequibo and deposits same at Demerara Bank. According to Azeez on Thursday about 09:00hrs she started to collect money from customers in Essequibo using her Motor Car PSS 7590.

She collected money amounting to 2.5 Million and claimed that around 13:45hrs after collecting money from the last customer at Old Market Road, Anna Regina, as she was walking going to her car which was parked some 150 feet away, she was robbed.

She claimed that two unidentified males rode up on a motor cycle (number and colour unknown) and the pillion rider snatched the black plastic bag containing the money and rode away at a fast rate of speed. She said she raised an alarm, but the men escaped. She subsequently made a report to police who visited the scene, but found no useful information.

Investigators later decided to arrest Azeez and under intense grilling, she admitted that she was not robbed and that the actual amount of money she collected was $ 57 7, 340. She also claimed she deposited it in the bank and have the receipts. She then admitted that she made a false report and that she used up some money for the company before unknowing to them, and cannot get same back. She is presently in custody and awaiting possible charges.
