Essequibo salesgirl in custody for allegedly faking robbery

A twenty – seven- year old sales representative attached to Beepats and Sons  is presently in police custody after she allegedly faked a robbery on Thursday in the Cinderella county.

Reports are that the woman admitted that she made a false report to the police. The female who resides at Queenstown village on the Essequibo Coast alleged a simple larceny of G$2.5M , property of Beepat and Sons.

Information revealed that the woman usually collects money from customers of the company on the Essequibo Coast and deposit same at a Demerara Bank  branch there. The woman told police that on Thursday , at around 0900hrs she commenced business using her motorcar.

The woman claimed that at around  1345 hrs on Thursday , after collecting a sum of money from her last customer at Old Market Road, Anna Regina she was walking to her car when she was robbed.

She claimed that two unidentified males rode up on a motor cycle and the pillion rider snatched a black plastic bag containing the money and rode away.

Police however , visited the scene after the report but found no useful information. After being grilled by the lawmen, the woman was arrested after she allegedly admitted that she collected a smaller sum of money , which she utilised for her own use.

The woman remained in police custody on Friday and she is expected to be placed before the courts in the new week.
