THE Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into the murder of 21-year-old Vishal Hansraj is expected to come to an end soon before Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

On Monday, one of the final witnesses took to the stand against Debbie Hansraj, 25, of Grove, who is charged with killing her brother between April 17 and April 18, 2017 at Covent Garden Sea Dam, East Bank Demerara.

The matter was adjourned until April 23. The state is being represented by police prosecutor Demonic Bess while the defendant is represented by attorney-at-law, George Thomas.

According to reports, the stabbing stemmed from a heated argument between the siblings after Vishal confronted his sister who had allegedly wounded their mother.
Reports indicate that Vishal had armed himself with a knife and attempted to injure his sister, who in retaliation relieved him of the weapon and used it to stab him twice.

Both of them were reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. The injured man was rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, after which he was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he succumbed the following day.
