HONOURABLE Minister of Social Cohesion, with responsibility for Culture, Youth and Sport, Dr George Norton, extends sincerest congratulations to Mr Troy Doris, on his astonishing achievement at the 2018 Commonwealth Games held in Australia.

Representing Guyana, Doris copped the much-coveted gold medal with his 16.88m triple jump.

“Seeing the Golden Arrowhead being hoisted as the sounds of our National Anthem soared throughout that stadium, for the world to see, was surreal. I am sure that like myself and His Excellency, President David Granger, all of Guyana is extremely happy and proud of this achievement,” Dr Norton said.

Doris is the first Guyanese to cop a gold medal for a triple jump at the Commonwealth Games.
