Girl, 15, delivers at City hospital

THE Schools Welfare Department and the Child Protection Officer in Region Two are investigating a teenage pregnancy case involving a 15-year-old from Perseverance Village, Essequibo Coast.

According to information reaching Guyana Chronicle, the teenage girl delivered a baby boy at a private hospital in Georgetown.
Reports indicate that the teenager allegedly gave her mother’s name instead of hers during the delivery.

She was earlier admitted to the Suddie Public Hospital, Region Two, but was subsequently taken to a private City hospital by family members.
Family members are tight-lipped over the incident. The teen, who attends the Abrams Zuil Secondary School, has been absent from school a long time now and credible sources indicated that she was dating a boy in her community.
The fifth form student is expected to sit the Caribbean Secondary Examination Certificate (CSEC) examinations in the coming months.
