The  partially burnt body of a Mahaicony fisherman was discovered early Tuesday morning at the Rosignol fishing complex.
The man was only identified as “Rajpaul”of Mahaicony. His lifeless body was found in a  boat , Miss Ameena, following a fire on board the vessel.

Reports indicate the young man was seen earlier on Monday night imbibing while in the company of the boat’s captain , who later dropped him off  at the boat around 0130hrs on Tuesday.

According to information at approximately 0200hrs  on Tuesday,  a security guard attached to the fishery department noticed flames emanating from Rajpaul’s boat.

The security guard told investigators that after he noticed the smoke he went over to check and noticed a stove was on fire and a part of the boat was already engulfed in flames.
He related that he tried to douse with flames with buckets of water and it was  during this time that he discovered the motionless body of Rajpaul lying on the floor of the boat.
A report was made to the police who subsequently arrived to the scene.The motionless body of the fisherman was taken to the Fort Wellington Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The man’s body is currently at Anthony Funeral Parlor on the West Coast of Berbice awaiting a post-mortem examination.
A police source indicated no marks of violence was discovered on Rajpaul’s body.
