Bacchanal at bus park — chopper used in the fray

A TAXI driver appeared Monday in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on an assault charge.
It is alleged that on February 4 at the Timehri Bus Park, Amman Arrowood of Supply, East Bank Demerara, unlawfully and maliciously wounded O’Neil Cook.

Arrowood pleaded not guilty to the charge that was read out to him in the court.
According to the evidence provided in court by the prosecutor, the virtual complainant (VC) was putting off passengers at the bus park when a heated argument ensued, which turned into a fight. The defendant is said to have taken a chopper and given the VC a chop on his head. The matter was reported to the Brickdam Police Station and the defendant was arrested and charged.

Bail was granted by Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman in the sum of $180,000 and the matter was adjourned for March 21.
