THE Guyana Goldfields Inc. has continued its philanthropic efforts locally by distributing $16 million in grants to 22 Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) from across the country.

Some of the NGOs that benefitted were the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha, Joshua House, Help and Shelter and the Guyana Society for the Blind. “This is our seventh year of doing the Children’s Needs Development Initiative which was the brainchild of the company’s Founder and Director, Patrick Sheridan…we want to be seen as a company that contributes to and assists local NGOs to work with children and the affairs of children,” said Country Manager, Violet Smith during the presentation at Herdmanston Lodge on Wednesday.
Over the past seven years, the company has donated a total of almost $100 million in grants to NGOs and local communities such as Caria Caria and St Cuthbert’s Mission, said the country manager. Through the initiative, the company provides support for Guyana’s vulnerable youth population, through support for programmes.

It also explores ways to partner with neighbouring and engaged communities such as St. Cuthbert’s Mission, Caria Caria, Buck Hall and Great Troolie on sustainable, developmental projects. Smith said their philosophy is to have a diverse workplace and reach so that every Guyanese or vulnerable child could benefit in some way from their initiatives.
Representatives of the various NGOs expressed their gratitude to the company for its donation which they said would go a far way in helping them to provide help and assistance to those in need.

Guyana Goldfields Inc. is a Canada-based Company, focussed on the exploration, development and operation of gold deposits in Guyana, South America.
