THE Guyana Defence Force (GDF) was drawn in Group B in the second Tier of the 2018 FLOW CONCACAF Caribbean Club Championship, where they played alongside Grenada’s Hard Rock FC, Avenues United FC From St Vincent and the Grenadines and Real Rincon of the Netherlands Antilles.

The FLOW CONCACAF Caribbean Club Championship is being held amongst clubs whose football associations are affiliated with the Caribbean Football Union (CFU), a sub-confederation of CONCACAF.

The CONCACAF Council, at its meeting on July 25, 2017 in San Francisco, California, approved the implementation of the following competitions for affiliated clubs of Caribbean Member Associations starting in 2018.

Countries were broken down into two Tiers, with Tier One being known as the Caribbean Professional Club Championship (CPCC), which will be contested by the champions and runners-up of the top professional and semi-professional leagues in year 1 (2018).

In year two (2019) and onwards, only clubs from leagues that are fully professionalised will be eligible to participate in this competition.

The second Tier is will be known as the Caribbean Amateur Club Championship (CACC) and will be open to the champions of the top leagues in Member Associations that have no professional or semi-professional leagues in year 1 (2018) and to amateur and semi-professional leagues in year 2 (2019) and onwards.

The winners of Tier 1 will qualify automatically for the 2019 CONCACAF Champions League. The second and third place teams will qualify to the 2018 CONCACAF League. The fourth place team will play one match against the winners of Tier 2 to determine the final Caribbean spot to the 2018 CONCACAF League.

Winners of Tier 2 will enter the play-off against the fourth-placed team of Tier 1 for a place in the 2018 CONCACAF League, as long as they comply with the minimum CONCACAF Club Licensing requirements for the CONCACAF League.

Meanwhile, it was stated by CONCACAF, that the host venues and playing dates for the second Tier will be announced shortly.
