“Technology is changing rapidly. When you look at the world it gives [the] opportunity to people regardless of where you are,” this was the advice given to the residents by Minister of Public Telecommunications Cathy Hughes, as she explained the numerous benefits that the hub offers to all, young and the not so young.

“Education is the one thing that can change the prospects of your child. You have the opportunity with the hub, for that child to grow,” Minister Hughes told residents.

She added that the Internet enables persons to connect with others worldwide, whether through online classes, business ventures, or socialising. The minister revealed that the ministry will be providing learning materials in the coming weeks; List of 1000 questions- Grade Six Assessment, and CSEC pre-questions for students on the computers.

This project is a collaboration with the Ministry of Public Telecommunications (MoPT) and the National Data Management Authority (NDMA).

It was explained that the hub has some 20 laptops and a team of 12 persons to manage and monitor the operations. According to Barbara Boyce, Chairman, Management Committee, the hub will also soon be equipped with a printer. “We had a bumpy journey to this day, but we are here and very grateful.”
