(CMC) – WEST Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin shone with the ball but struggled with the bat, as her Brisbane Heat strolled to a five-wicket victory over Melbourne Stars, to go joint-top of the Women’s Big Bash League.

Opting to bat first at Harrup Park yesterday, Stars rallied to a competitive 133 for three off their 20 overs, with Dottin the best bowler snaring two for 13 from three overs of tight medium pace.

Katie Mack top-scored with 57, anchoring stands of 32 for the first wicket with South African Lizelle Lee (15) and 77 for the second wicket with Mignon du Preez (30), also of South Africa.
Dottin accounted for Lee in the sixth over, caught at the wicket and returned to prise out du Preez, lbw in the 18th.

In reply, Heat were fired by opener Beth Mooney’s 57 from 38 deliveries while Jess Jonassen finished unbeaten on 23.
Dottin, batting at number three, failed with two, falling lbw to leg-spinner Alana King (2-22) in the 10th over.

The win took Heat to 12 points, alongside Sydney Thunder who boast in their ranks Dottin’s Windies captain Stafanie Taylor.
