THE Guyana Karate College (GKC) spent a morning with the youths of the Joshua House Children Centre in Georgetown in keeping with their local tradition around the holidays.
Vice President and Senior Instructor of the GKC, Shihan Jeffrey Wong, said that while most will celebrate Christmas and ringing in the New Year with family, close friends and loved ones, they wanted the children of this orphanage to feel loved and appreciated.
The GKC started the day off for the children with a breakfast, then treated them to a karate demonstration before interacting and taking photographs with them
The karatekas of the Guyana Karate College who are always proud to support philanthropic causes, related how they found the experience with the children to be very fulfilling, particularly when they got to see the smiling faces of these young residents and got to talk with them.
Peter Campayne who chairs the Guyana Karate College sub-committee which has responsibility for social development, indicated that they believe in providing a child with an education, which will serve them for the rest of their lives.
Additionally, the GKC plans to donate household items, food, toiletries, sheets and bath towels to the Joshua House Children Centre during 2018.
