The end of the year is always a time for reflection and whether or not you believe that the New Year should be the time when people should try to make changes, there is just something about ending one year and beginning a new one that inevitably evokes reflection and a drive to do things differently.

This is where the concept of resolutions come in. Just like Christmastime, Old Year’s Night has a unique Guyanese spin. It is a time for Guyanese cook-up; a time for merriment; and even a time for breaking the New Year in church in hopes of setting one’s life on the right track. This week’s Pepperpot stays true to the spirit of Old Year’s Night and brings stories of reflection.

The year 2017 may not have been the best, but as we look back on our own lives, there is always hope that we can make the coming year one of change since second chances are always seen
