Tuschen man killed in Orangestein accident


A 40-year-old labourer, Courtney Ashby, was killed after being struck down by a motorcar on the Orangestein Public Road, East Bank Essequibo (EBE), early Saturday morning.

According to the police, Ashby, of Tuschen, EBE, reportedly ran into the path of the vehicle which was being driven by a 24-year-old male of Plaisance, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
After being hit, he was rushed by the driver to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The driver of the motorcar, PRR 5883, is in police custody assisting with investigations. He was tested for alcohol consumption but was found to be below the legal limit.
