THE Flying Ace Cycling Club, in collaboration with the Guyana Police Force `B’ Division (Berbice), held its feature 25-mile road race for cyclists living or based in Berbice last Sunday.

The much-anticipated race which attracted 10 starters wheeled off from the corner of Main and Alexander Streets, New Amsterdam, to Rose Hall Town Arch then returned to finish at the place of origin.

After a swift start which saw the riders challenge one another, Balram Narine broke away from the pack and signalled his intention in the vicinity of Number 1 Road.
Narine led the race from then on. His closest rival was Adriel Ross, who looked determined but could not muster enough energy to catch Narine.

Narine comfortably rode away with the win, in excess of 2 miles ahead of his closest competitor Adriel Ross, who came in second. Sybome Fernandes took third place, Ralph Seenarine fourth, Donovan Fraser fifth and Ajay Gopaul sixth.

In addition Balram Narine took the two prime prizes that were up for grabs.
There was also one female rider, Shenika Teixeira, who pedalled her way from starting point, Kris Jagdeo’s residence, Number 1 Road and proceeded to the finish at Alexander Street, New Amsterdam.

The BMX riders had their chance to shine when they took off in front of the Berbice High School, going on to finish at Alexander Street.
In the 6-9 age groups for the BMX riders, Lumesh Singh skilfully wheeled his way to first place as Arafaan Blair took second and Gregory Daniels third. In the 9-12 category, Gemal Daniels took first position, Daniel Blair second and Malachi Devanand third.

Club coach Randolph Roberts and Senior Superintendent Edmond Cooper, Second-in-Command of `B’ Division, were the persons in charge of the activity, which forms part of the Guyana Police Force Road Safety Month.
