‘Big Red’ makes big strides

MICHELLE King called “Big Red” continues to make strides both on the local and international stages performing alongside overseas artistes which has given her that extra pep for self-motivation in reaching her goals.

Recently, she was in Canada where she performed in the Guyanese Caribana Extravanza Show singing with Carl Brown and others. The show was deemed a success by critics and attendees.

Big Red also attended the funeral of Guyanese-born artist ‘High Water’ who passed away the day after King arrived in Canada.
He sang songs such as “One People, One Nation, One Destiny” and was a very gifted musician who will be remembered for his love of music.

King, a mother of two, also went to Barbados last month to perform for the Hurricane Relief Concert which was titled “I am my brothers’ and sisters’ keepers”. The stage was also graced by the presence of Allison Hinds, Freddy McGreggor, David Rudder, Queen Ifrica and many others.

“For me, performing with these renowned artistes was truly an inspiration,” Big Red told The Buzz, adding that it was the first time meeting some of the artists and that it was a really good experience.
King was in high praise for the organiser Orlando Newtown and Guyanese-born gospel singer Roseman Forde for ensuring she was there.

For Mashramani 2018 “Big Red” will be launching a new upbeat soca song titled “Pressure” which she plans on entering in the Road March competition.
Her last song for Mashramani was “Not at all” and she is now working on the video for this song. Big Red also performed at D’urban Park for the Hurricane Relief Concert in which many local artistes such as Natural Black, Vanilla and the sensational Patrice Roberts were also in attendance.

King is aiming high in terms of expanding her music career and she says wherever it takes her she is willing to go and credits her success in being a believer of the Almighty.
Presently, she is doing a collaboration with Natural Black at Vizion Sounds Recording Studio and that song will make the local airwaves shortly.

King is all set to sing alongside her son Jonathan King called “Lil Red” who has many songs such as “Pumping Higher”, “Smash up de place” “Hold me tight” and “Never stop”.
This talented singer who is known for belting out mostly up-tempo soca songs also performed at the Bacchanal Wednesday show titled “Music in my heart” with Machel Montano, Destra Garcia, Allison Hinds, Swappi, Freezy and others here in Guyana recently.
