Editor’s Note

December is upon us and before we know it, Christmas will be here. The Pepperpot Magazine will, therefore, begin by ushering in the Christmas season bit by bit with some of our stories. We start off by looking at one man’s decision to move away from the Western world where Christmas just didn’t have the warmth that it would back home in Guyana. We also delve into the views of some sections of society who look at the Christmas tradition of lighting squibs and celebrating through fireworks and how this practice affects various persons and animals.

Christmas is also the season of giving back, so we also bring stories of groups who have dedicated themselves to doing just that in light of the upcoming holidays and beyond. Over the next few weeks, our stories will take a look at the Christmas holidays and the meaning of Christmas all in an aim of keeping the spirit and traditions of Christmas alive. And so we will be the first to wish you: Happy Holidays!
