Cops recognised for top performance at UG

IN recognition of their exemplary achievements and qualifications, Acting Commissioner of Police David Ramnarine on Friday, congratulated those ranks of the Force who recently graduated from both the Turkeyen and Tain Campuses of the University of Guyana.

Ramnarine made the comments at an event he held in the commissioner’s board room. In his congratulatory remarks, the Acting Commissioner applauded the graduates for their efforts but also drew to their attention that they are members of a noble institution whose services are in demand.

Adding that they are now endowed with higher learning, Ramnarine said it is expected and required that their performances on the job, in particular the quality of leadership and supervision they exhibit, must improve to their benefit and that of the organisation and the society at large.

Two superintendents, Brian Eastman and Mahendra Siwnarine, who received the prestigious Prime Minister’s Medal have been awarded a plaque each by the Force, in recognition of their achievement.Eastman won his on the 49th convocation of the University whilst Siwnarine won his last month.Superintendent Eastman who is currently pursuing his Masters in Public Management is Head of Special Branch with Superintendent Siwnarine is his deputy.

The graduates, eight in total, are: Superintendents Julius Wright and Mahendra Siwnarine- Degree in Public Management; Inspectors Nicola Kendall and Kevin London- Commonwealth Masters in Public Administration; Inspector Dellon Elexey- Degree in International Relations; Inspector Alexis David- Degree in Communication; Sergeant Pearl Jacobs- Degree in Business Management and Constable Darryl Thompson- Diploma in Public Management. Thompson graduated at the Tain Campus.
