Jailed, fined for ‘possession’

CITY Magistrate Judy Latchman on Monday sentenced a 25-year-old construction worker to three years imprisonment for drug possession.
Satifa Joseph pleaded guilty to the charge, which read that on November 16, at America Street, he had 21 grams of cannabis in his possession.

According to reports, on the day in question, police on foot patrol in America Street stopped Joseph, and on searching him, found the illicit drugs in his pants pocket.
On imposing sentence, the magistrate also slapped Joseph with a $30,000 fine.
