THE Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPLF) will end off 2017 with its Senior Nationals at the Ramada Princess Hotel on Sunday, December 3.
According to executive member of the Federation, Martin Webster, patrons can expect a good show since the local lifters will be positioning themselves to qualify for next year’s international competitions.

Moreover, overall winners of the Raw Nationals held in October–Vijai Rahim and Lisa Oudit–will be returning to showdown with the other competitors.
Aiming to clean away the prizes too will be Colin ‘Mr. Clean’ Chesney, Grace and Blossom Babb and Jackquelyn Toney, while Joseph Stoll in the Masters 2 (50- 60 years) and Frank Tucker in the Masters 3 (60- 70 years) will seek to show-off on the youngsters.

And ‘Golden Boy’ Romario Gonsalves, who was part of Guyana’s contingent at the 16th North American Powerlifting Federation (NAPF) and 32nd South American Powerlifting Federation (FESUPO) Championships contested Florida this July, will also be competing for glory on December 3.

The competition will begin at 10:00 hrs, and the athletes are able to compete in the Raw (Classic/Unequipped) or Equipped categories.
In preparation for this final showdown, the GALPF will host a referees’ clinic on December 2, which is targeting capacity building of local referees and officials functioning as spotters and scorers. The athletes will also be duly informed of the demerits of using performance enhancing drugs and will be able to take their anti-doping tests.
