MAHAICA Determinators and Camptown FC are the final two teams to advance to the next round of the Turbo knockout football tournament.

The earlier drizzles could not hamper the games of the evening at the Ministry of Education Ground, Carifesta Avenue, where the final two quarterfinal matches would take place.

In the first game, the Mahaica side were in no playful mood against their opponents, Winners Connection of Linden, winning 3-0. The Linden-based side, one of the older units in this encounter, was banking on their experience but the youth and pace of the East Coast side were the deciding factors.

Eion Abel’s 23rd minute strike gave the East Coast side the lead as Ozese Hally (44th) would score the side’s second goal. Winners connection had no answer as the half ended.

Curt Adams in the 53rd would be the side’s third scorer as they completed the evening in fine style and moved into the next round of the competition.

In the second game, Camptown FC was also victorious over Buxton Stars via a 2-0 margin.

It was Ozeal Small who scored the first via a splendid effort from just over 25 yards out; beating the flailing arms of the keeper who could do nothing to stop the rocket that had locked onto the top right corner.

Small would add his and the team’s second goal in the 84th minute as the team moved into the next round.

The tournament continues next Wednesday when Police will play Kuru Kuru while Pele will play Grove Hi-Tech
