There are strands of similarities between the two recent abuse cases involving young boys.

Both cases were perpetrated by adults.  In both cases a second person knew what was happening or taking place, but did nothing to render assistance to the helpless victims.  In both matters the authorities knew, but were slothful in acting or did not act at all.  Both were victims of depraved minds.

It must be queried what did the authorities hope to achieve by their failure to act with alacrity on reports?

While authorities fiddled, one child died and the other, well for sure he is scarred for life.

From all accounts in the media reports, it took almost two months for city officials to realise the corporal who witnessed the indecent act was derelict in duty and he made no log of the occurrence in the station diary.

Seems the hierarchy of the city administration has also been derelict in the execution of their duty and should be called upon to account for atrocious decisions taken in this particular matter.

Did I read correctly? The mother of the child at the centre of the City abuse matter, it is alleged, said to constables she did not want the child in her home as he was causing problems between her and her husband (SN Wednesday, October 18).

Sad, Sad, Sad.
