Nine months for stealing sister’s band

A NINE-MONTH jail sentence was imposed by City Magistrate Leron Daly on a Laing Avenue resident for stealing his sister’s silver band.

Damon Smith appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates Court on Friday and confessed that on September 26 at Laing Avenue, Georgetown, he stole a sliver band valued $10,000, property of Felicia Smith.
“I thief the thing and sell it in the market then I buy fronto and smoke out the rest of the money,” the unrepresented man told the court.
According to reports, the defendant is the victim’s older brother and they both live in the same house at Laing Avenue. The accused, who is in the habit of stealing from the family, took his sister’s band and sold it
Magistrate Daly, after considering Smith’s guilty plea, sentenced him to nine months’ imprisonment.
