SONIA NOEL DESIGNS AT THE EMMYS

LAST YEAR, Donna Hinkson, who is the wife of a St Lucian Musician, wore a red Sonia Noel masterpiece to the Grammys. The pic was widely circulated and she reported from the time she hit the carpet that the compliments were too numerous to mention. Last Sunday Shevon Nieto who is an Olympian/Singer wore a black lace sheer exclusive gown from my Elizabeth collection.

I did not watch the Emmys because I was at a private event which Lady Ira and Michelle Clarke, hosted in New Jersey for me, but I was receiving texts from people telling me about my dress on the red carpet. Then I received a WhatsApp message and pic from Shevon. The next morning we spoke on the phone and she explained the effect my design had and that people were interested in ordering.

She said she felt `so special’ because no one was wearing anything like hers. She said she couldn’t wait to put on the others in her closet.

While Shevon was turning heads on the red carpet, our own, Sherif Barker (President of the Guyana Unity Movement), was making a grand entrance to a Gala in New York. She was `so royal’ that everyone in attendance complimented her. She said she felt like a Hollywood A-lister. She called and requested that we have a private showing in 24 hours at The Hills owned by Doris Rodney, another sister from Guyana. It was a very productive and fun hour and I got some new clients.

I am so appreciative of these women in my life who believe in my vision and mission. When people call or send me messages thanking me for creating a clothing brand that makes them feel better from the inside out, it makes me happy because that is one of my objectives. My friend, Candy, who is a talk-show host in St Lucia, told me she was wearing one of my outfits and Angela Hunt will be contacting me because she loves my designs. Angela is an American-Trinidadian singer-songwriter, and producer. She is best known for being a contributing writer for ‘Empire State of Mind’, with Alicia Keys and Jay Z, a song which won her a Grammy.

This morning, Jessica Hadfield called me, and was very excited to tell me she wore a kaftan top to an event recently and people were crazy about it. She went on the say, even before the compliments she had this awesome inner feeling which added to her confidence.
