Husband facing murder charge

A 60-year-old pensioner who dealt his wife a blow to the head with a piece of wood, causing her death, is expected to be charged for murder.
Initially, Randolph Tahal had reported that his wife Janet may have fallen and injured herself at their Lot 95 Smythfield, New Amsterdam, home.

The pensioner had reported that after returning home from a friend’s wake in Stanleytown, he opened the front door of his house and saw his wife lying in a pool of blood with a wound to the left side of the head.
Accordingly, he took her to the New Amsterdam Hospital and made a report at the Central Police Station the following day.

Following the report, the police visited the location and saw that the house was secured, but managed to retrieve a bloodied pillow and pillow case, which were seen concealed in a corner of the yard.

According to neighbours, verbal and physical abuse used to occur at the home, and the pensioner happens to be a former member of one of the disciplined forces.
