A 24-year-old excavator operator was on Monday remanded to prison by City Magistrate, Judy Latchman, for escaping from the Kuru-Kuru Police Outpost after being arrested for a child sex offence.
Cleveland King denied escaping from police custody on August 17, 2017 while being a prisoner at the Kuru-Kuru Police Outpost, on a criminal charge of engaging or facilitating in a child sex offence.
Police Prosecutor, Adonis Innis objected to King being granted pretrial liberty on the grounds of the seriousness and nature of the charge.
According to the facts, on the day in question, King was arrested by the police and taken to the Kuru-Kuru Outpost after a report was made that he had sexual intercourse with an underaged female.
While at the Police Outpost, King reportedly ran out and made good his escape. However, he was later apprehended by ranks.
