MINISTER within the Ministry of Communities Dawn Hastings-Williams, who will assume the portfolio of minister of public affairs this month-end, is excited about her new post and looks forward to continuing serving the nation.
The minister is yet to receive the terms of reference and her new list of duties from President David Granger, but told reporters that she is ready to accept her new portfolio and will work to serve the nation in whatever way she can.

“I hope that I find it both exciting and rewarding… I know it will be a challenge, but it is one that I am ready to take on,” she said.
Asked if she knows why she was moved, the minister said it was the President’s decision to do so, and according to him, it was in his own judgment.
Hastings pointed out that President Granger is committed to continuously evaluating his Cabinet in order to ensure there is strength in every sector and a minister public affairs was needed to fill a void.

Since the APNU+AFC Government was elected to office in 2015, Minister Hastings has been serving as one of the junior ministers to the Minister of Communities Ronald Bulkan.
During her time at the ministry, she did extensive work with the Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI), the management of the Haags Bosch dumpsite and other key agencies within the sector.
