Kitty man walks free on causing death charge

NOEL De Freitas of Newtown, Kitty, Georgetown was on Thursday found not guilty after allegedly causing the death of Murices Nurse by dangerous driving in late January of this year.
Fifty-four-year-old De Freitas appeared before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan, on Thursday and was told that he was free to go since there was not sufficient evidence linking him to the death of Nurse. Thus the matter was dismissed.
The father of two was charged with causing the death of a pedestrian by dangerous driving last January along Mandela Avenue. It is alleged that on January 24, at Nelson Mandela Avenue, Georgetown, Dé Freitas drove motorcar HC 4295 in a manner dangerous to the public, thereby causing the death of Nurse.
The Prosecutor stated that on January 24, 2017, the now dead Nurse, was a pedestrian when he was hit by De Freitas whose vehicle was proceeding in a fast manner on Nelson Mandela Avenue.
The taxi driver was represented by Attorney at Law, Marcel Bobb who stated that his client rendered assistance to Nurse and took him to the Georgetown Public Hospital. De Freitas cooperated with the Police while they were conducting their investigation.
