A SOUTH Ruimveldt man was on Friday sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to simple larceny charge.
The charge stated that on June 20, at Dennis Street, Campbellville, Kelvin Grey, 43, of Aubrey Barker Road, South Ruimveldt, broke and entered the dwelling place of Tamika Jacqui and stole one TCL television valued $80,000 and one Asus table worth $25,000.
Grey admitted to the charged when it was read to him by Magistrate Sunil Scarce.
Meanwhile, Police persecutor Preston John told the court that Jacqui, a police woman, had secured her house and left for work. He noted that Grey was seen by neighbours kicking the complainant’s door until it opened.
The police were alerted and when confronted, Grey dropped a bag with the stolen items and ran. He was subsequently arrested.
