… Sparta Boss face Albouystown; Tucville play Sophia tonight

THE inaugural Xtreme Cleaners/GT Beer Gold Rush Futsal Championship has moved into the semi-finals, and tonight eight teams will seek to stake their claim for the tournament’s $500 000 first-place prize.
At the National Gymnasium, Tucville will tackle Sophia in the first semi-final, while tournament favourites Sparta Boss will come up against Albouystown in a game that many are calling the ‘final’.
Sparta Boss eased into the semi-final with a 3-2 win over Future Stars in the quarter-final on Tuesday.

Tucville and Back Circle players battle for the ball during Tuesday’s action at the National Gymnasium.

The team’s marksman Devon Millington four minutes into the contest sent Sparta Boss into the lead, but Jeremy Garrett responded two minutes later to level the score for Future Stars.
The half ended 1-1 but it was Sheldon Shepherd who broke the deadlock for Sparta Boss in the 17th minute. However, Keron Solomon found the equaliser in the 26th minute.
As the two sides pushed for the win, it was Eusi Phillips who rifled home the game winner for Sparta Boss in the 29th minute, to send the usual ‘Kings of Futsal’ through to the semi-finals.
Sparta Boss’ opposition for tonight, Sophia, made light work of Bent Street in their quarter-final clash, winning 4-2.
Desmond Cottam (5th and 17th) and Omallo Williams (28th and 30th) scored for Sophia, while Bent Street’s lone goal came off the boot of Orandel Williams in the 25th minute.
Roy Cassou (8th) and Marlon Nedd (12th) helped Albouystown to secure a 2-1 win over Broad Street and Tucville thrashed Back Circle 6-3.
The final of the Xtreme Cleaners/GT Beer Gold Rush Futsal Championship will be played on Saturday. Apart from the $500 000 up for grabs for the winners, the runners-up will receive $200 000 and the respective accolade.
The third- and fourth-place finishers will pocket $100 000 and $50 000 respectively with the corresponding accolade. On the individual side, $50 000 will be awarded to the Most Valuable Player (MVP).
