A TOTAL of 183 new police constables on Tuesday graduated from the Guyana Police Force, Felix Austin Police College, at the Tactical Services Unit Drill Square, Police Headquarters, Eve Leary, Georgetown.
Commissioner of Police, Seelall Persaud, who delivered the feature address at the passing out parade applauded the graduates on their hard work, while commending the force training officers’ who managed to meet the timelines of the course schedule.
Persaud in his address stated that the police force now is vastly different from when he joined many years ago. “The police force that we are embarking on now is one that is service-oriented, where decision making has been decentralised right down to frontline levels; one that is accountable, not only collectively but individually”, Persaud said.
The Commissioner of Police explained that the Guyana Police Force will be soon implementing a new budget that will target a number of issues affecting communities. “We are implementing a budget of what we refer to as team policing; so tomorrow when you join the stations, you will be joining teams that have the responsibilities to police geographic areas within those police station districts”.
