SEVERAL farmers and other businesspersons involved in agro-processing in six of the 10 administrative regions are now better able to determine prices for their products.
They recently participated in a cost of production seminar organised by the Inter- American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and the New Guyana Marketing Corporation (NGMC), and held at Regency Suites, Georgetown.
Officials from IICA and NGMC have observed that those involved in transforming products originating from agriculture, forestry and fisheries to finished products have been relegating cost measurement to the periphery of their activity, even though it is a crucial element of the decision-making process of business.
Participants of the one-day exercise were drawn from Regions One, Two, Three, Four, Five and Nine and include members of the Women’s Agro-processors Development Network (WADN).
The seminar targeting farmers and agro-processors was the second held by IICA in collaboration with the NGMC in recent months.
