Police nab suspect in Bourda Market murder

THE police have arrested a man who was preparing to head to Berbice on Friday in connection with the stabbing death of Jerome Cumberbatch at Bourda Market.
Police said that Cumberbatch, 40, called “Kunta” of Lot 159 Half Mile, Wismar, Linden, who did odd jobs at the market, became involved in an argument with another man, who stabbed him multiple times on Thursday before fleeing. Cumberbatch collapsed and died at the scene. A sister of the destitute man said that her brother made a living picking up scrap metal. The body is at the Lyken Funeral Parlour.
Persons at the market said the men are known for doing odd jobs around the market and they had a misunderstanding over money, which ended in the fatal stabbing.
