THE police of ‘G’ Division (Essequibo Coast) on Saturday partnered with the Ministry of Public Health and Hope for the Nation Foundation to host a community outreach at Sandpit, Onderneeming, on the Essequibo Coast.
Divisional Commander Stephen Mansell told the Guyana Chronicle that some 350 residents benefited from food, clothing and a medical outreach. The programme is aimed at building public trust through closer community relations.
He explained that the event targeted early school -leavers and the unemployed, while there was registration for youths wanting to attend the Essequibo Technical Institute (ETI).
Training for successful applicants will commence in May and will last for four months.
Hope for the Nation Foundation Secretary, Pastor Otillo Pereira, informed the residents of opportunities from which they can benefit such as skills training, and monthly distribution of food items, clothing and books.
