THE chambers of the Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs on Wednesday commenced training for the staff on the new Civil Procedure Rules 2016.
The training is being done in several sessions over the next few weeks and will give the legal staff an in-depth look at the Rules with a view to enabling them to make optimal use of their contents, both in court and while drafting local legislation.
Last December the Attorney General, Basil Williams, SC, as part of his sensitisation objectives, hosted a one-day training session during which State lawyers and some judges were given a brief introduction to the Rules. The in-house training sessions are being led by the three senior members of the Chamber’s Drafting Division, namely, the Chief Parliamentary Counsel, Mr Charles Fung-A-Fat, SC, who is the head of the Division, and Justice Abdullahi Zuru and Mrs Dhurjon, consultants in the division. Legal Staff from both the Drafting and Litigation Divisions are attending.
