CB/DMLAS/MOE/NSSCL .… Georgetown Combined District clash with Mahaicony-East Coast today

FOLLOWING yesterday’s final preliminary game in the Georgetown District, a Georgetown Combined District team was selected to play the Mahaicony-East Coast Combined team today in the quarter-final phase of the Guyana Cricket Board/ National Secondary School Cricket League at the Ogle Community Centre ground from 9:30hrs.
The team was selected after the game between North Georgetown Combined and the Rest of Georgetown (players from South and East Georgetown), which was played at the Ogle Community Centre ground.
Rest of Georgetown won by nine wickets, with 5.1 overs to spare.
Overnight and early morning rain reduced the game to 15 overs aside, since the tournament’s playing conditions clearly stated that a game can be reduced to any amount of overs provided that actual play is possible.
Batting first, North Georgetown reached 50-5, with Alphius Bookie (14), the only batsman to reach double figures. Aren Beharry and Amel Tilku were unbeaten on 8 and 6 respectively.
Bowling for Rest of Georgetown,Qumar Torrington (2-12), Osapho Green (2-13) and Stephon Wilson (1-4), were the successful bowlers.
In reply,openers Ameer Singh and Jamal Michael added 51 runs for the first wicket before Michael went for 17. When the victory target was achieved in 9.5 overs, Singh was unbeaten on 29.
At the conclusion of the game the Georgetown Combined District squad was selected.
The squad reads: Sachin Singh, Jamal Michael, Garrick Persaud, Stephon Wilson, Alphius Bookie, Nkosi Beaton, Ameer Singh, Tuen Hicks, Kester McAllister, Qumar Torrington, Anthony Hetsburger, Sunil Ramlall, Diquan Bamfield, Wayne Bollers, Ashmead Nedd and Osapho Green.
