60 months jail, $6.9M fine …for man guilty of having 5 kilos of ganja

A RESIDENT OF Westminster, Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, was sentenced to 60 months imprisonment and fined $6.9M after he was found guilty of trafficking over almost 5 kilos of cannabis.

City Magistrate Judy Latchman convicted Moraino Wilson, 23, of having 4.624 kilograms of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking on January 7, 2017.
According to reports, on January 7, 2017, around 13:20hrs, ranks of the Police Narcotics Branch intercepted two boxes with cannabis at a Sussex Street wharf. The boxes were slated to be shipped to Port Kaituma, North West District (NWD). The boxes were searched and the packets containing cannabis were discovered. Wilson, when arrested, reportedly confessed to owning the drugs and told the police, “It’s a small hustle I trying to do.”
